WHO CAN COME TO THIS CHURCH?
We welcome anyone to this church who is seeking the truth about Jesus
Christ, God and the meaning of life.
You are welcome regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, disability
or ability, habits, addictions, political persuasion, educational standard,
or social and cultural backgrounds.
HOW MUST I DRESS?
You may dress as you would do normally. There is no requirement for smart
dress. However, we do ask you to dress decently. Thank you.
DO THEY WANT MY MONEY?
We take an offering during our meetings to meet the costs of the work
we do. It is an OFFERING and you DO NOT have to give anything. Regular
attendees of the church are encouraged to tithe and many do so by STO
direct from their banks.
WORSHIP—MUST I STAND, SING, LIFT MY HANDS
ETC.?
We have a period of singing during our service which is part of our worship.
Believers in Jesus Christ will stand, sing, raise their hands, clap etc.—you
do not have to do any of these things unless you wish too. We invite you
to join in or listen, sitting or standing and think about the words and
why they clearly mean something special to those worshipping.
WHAT IS PROPHECY? WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HEAR
A PROPHECY?
Sometimes God will give a person a prophetic word to speak to an individual
or to everyone present. Where a message for everyone is given the leadership
will normally be aware that it is going to happen and announce the appropriate
time in the service for the person giving the word to speak. The spirit
of prophecy is subject to the prophet (he/she does not have to speak out
when they receive revelation). A word given to the whole church will be
weighed by the leadership and the members. It should not be acted upon
until it has been tested. We will frequently give prophetic words to people
who ask for prayer. Please see the separate leaflet on what to do with
prophecy.
WHY DID THAT PERSON FALL OVER? DO I HAVE TOO?
ARE THEY SAFE?
When people are prayed for sometimes the presence of our BIG God is so
overwhelming they will fall over as God ministers to them. Those praying
for individuals will ensure the person is caught if they begin to fall.
Whilst they are laying down they may shake as God ministers to them. They
are safe.
You do not need to call an ambulance. You do not need to be afraid. God
is a perfect gentleman and will normally seek your co-operation before
moving powerfully upon you.
WHAT QUESTIONS CAN I ASK? WHEN CAN I ASK THEM?
We are here to answer your questions based upon our relationship with
God and understanding of the Bible.
We ask that questions are saved to the end of the meeting. However, if
you are uncertain about something that is happening please ask one of
the regular attenders. If you need a lengthy explanation they may ask
you to go with them to a quieter area so they can speak without disturbing
others.
Please do not leave without asking those questions. We may not be able
to answer them immediately, or to your satisfaction but we will try.
MAY I SMOKE, DRINK ALCOHOL, TAKE DRUGS DURING THE
MEETING?
We do not condemn those that do these things but please do not do them
during the meeting, or whilst on the school premises.
MAY I BREAST FEED MY BABY IN CHURCH?
YES. The act of breast feeding is God given and beautiful. We do ask
that you do this discreetly and be aware of the men around you. There
is usually a private room available if you wish to leave the meeting to
do so.
MAY I USE MY MOBILE PHONE DURING THE MEETING?
Please put your mobile phones onto silent and vibrate mode if you need
to be contactable. If you receive a call during the meeting please go
outside to answer the call so as not to disturb others.
CAN MY CHILDREN RUN ABOUT DURING THE MEETING? WHO
TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM?
We have a child protection policy in place and our leaders are CRB checked.
We do ask you to take responsibility for your children throughout the
meeting. When children are invited to go into a “class” session
the teacher will look after your child but your child will be returned
to you as soon as class is over, or if the child is in any distress, or
is disruptive to the rest of the class.
After service people are carrying hot drinks around and moving heavy
and dangerous items. Please take special care of your child during this
time and ensure they do not run around or touch any equipment.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF YOUR VISIT TO THIS CHURCH?
We really want to know how comfortable we made you feel coming to this
church. We want to provide you with the answers to your questions, and
make our meetings relevant to you. Please take time to complete one of
the visitors cards to give us the feedback to make our meetings and information
provided useful to you and others.
If we have not answered your questions please see Pastor Chris or one
of the leaders at the end of the service.
The essence of our welcome is "COME AS YOU ARE".
You are very welcome and we know you will leave with a different opinion
about church.
